BRONZE FROG Rana clamitans
	Description - Body 2 1/8 - 3 inches (5.4 - 7.5 cm). A plain brown or bronze colored back. Body shape is similar to the Bullfrog. A boney ridge extends from just behind the eye to near the back leg. Voice - A single explosive baritone note sounding like a "CLUNG" or a "C’TUNG". Sometime it is repeated several time rapidly. Sometimes compared to plucking a single string on a bass cello. Habitat - Normally found in swamps and marshes. The Bronze Frog is a secretive frog often taking cover in logs, and dense vegetation. Breeding - Breeds from April - August in swamps and marshes. Female lays small masses of eggs that attach themselves to submerged vegetation. Range in Texas - Can be found in most of East Texas. Notes - This frog secretive nature make it very difficult to see. It normally hides in vegetation near the edge of the water.
