WEEKEND NATURE PROGRAMS & HIKE

MAY 17 & 18, 2008

SATURDAY

8:30 am GATORS IN THE MIST - Join us for a one-mile hike in the hopes of witnessing alligator mating rituals and territorial rivalries. Meet at the 40-Acre Lake rest rooms. Bring binoculars.
10:00 am CREEKFIELD NATURE HIKE - 1/2 mile, paved trail, approximately 1.5 hours
10:00 am - 12:00 pm ASK THE RANGER - Stop by the trail-side information station on the Southwest corner of the Elm Lake Trail.
1:30 pm CHILDREN'S STORY TIME (IP) - "Who Lives in an Alligator Hole?" - Animals depend on each other for survival. Listen to this book and learn how alligators help their wetland neighbors.
3:30 pm MEET THE MAMMALS SLIDESHOW (IP) - Some of the most secretive animals that inhabit the park are mammals. Find out who's hiding out from the tree-tops to the underground.

SUNDAY

10:00 am

CREEKFIELD NATURE HIKE - 1/2 mile, paved trail, approximately 1.5 hours

11:30 am CHILDREN'S STORY TIME (IP) - "First Flight" - Listen to this book and learn how mother hummingbird takes care of her young. Make a hummingbird.
3:30 pm OWLS, FROM HEAD TO TALON (IP) - Discover the unique adaptations that make owls the ultimate predators of the night sky. Hear their calls.

All programs are free and will begin at the Nature Center unless otherwise noted.

(IP) denotes indoor program with limited capacity. Programs start ON TIME. Late arrivals may not be permitted.

Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Also open 9 – 5 most holidays except Christmas Day

The purpose of the Volunteer organization is to assist and educate the visitors of Brazos Bend State Park through
information and interpretive programs and to assist in the care and conservation of the Park.
