SPRING BREAK NATURE PROGRAMS

Weekdays 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (some days may have extended hours for Spring Break only)

Monday, March 12

10:00 a.m. CREEKFIELD LAKE NATURE HIKE - 1/2 mile, paved trail, approximately 1.5 hours.
11:00 a.m. CHILDREN’S STORYTIME – “Never kiss an Alligator”- Listen to the book and make an alligator puppet.
1:30 p.m. ALL ABOUT ALLIGATORS HIKE – Meet at the 40 Acre Lake restrooms for a 1 mile guided hike to learn more about Brazos Bend’s most popular resident.

Tuesday, March 13

10:00 a.m. 40 Acre Lake Hike - Meet at the 40 Acre Lake Restrooms for this 1 mile guided hike.
1:00 p.m. SNAKE PROGRAM - Learn more about these fascinating creatures and the role they play in the environment.
3:00 p.m. WILDLIFE VIEWING AT ELM LAKE – Join us on the viewing platform in the Elm Lake picnic area and see what wildlife calls Elm Lake home.

Wednesday, March 14

8:00 a.m. Guided Bird Watching Hike - Meet at 40 Acre Lake Restrooms for this 1 mile guided hike. Bring binoculars if you have them. All skill levels welcome.
10:00 a.m. CREEKFIELD LAKE NATURE WALK - 1/2 mile, paved trail, approximately 1.5 hours
Noon BUILD AN ALLIGATOR - Discover all the adaptations that make alligators such successful predators.

Thursday, March 15

10:00 a.m. CREEKFIELD LAKE NATURE HIKE - 1/2 mile, paved trail, approximately 1.5 hours.
Noon BUILD AN ALLIGATOR - Discover all the adaptations that make alligators such successful predators.
3:00 p.m. WILDLIFE VIEWING AT ELM LAKE - Meet the park ranger on the viewing platform in the Elm Lake picnic area and see what wildlife calls Elm Lake home.

Friday, March 16

10:00 a.m. CREEKFIELD LAKE NATURE HIKE - 1/2 mile, paved trail, approximately 1.5 hours.
11:00 a.m. ORIENTERING 101 – Learn to navigate using a map and compass. Bring your own compass or borrow one from us.
Noon BUILD AN ALLIGATOR - Discover all the adaptations that make alligators such successful predators.
1:00 p.m. INTRODUCTION TO GEOCACHING - Use a hand held GPS unit as you go on a high tech game of lost and found.
3:30 p.m. SNAKES ALIVE - Discover more than you ever wanted to know about these creatures that people love to hate.
6:30 p.m. NEW MOON NIGHT HIKE - Meet at 40 Acre Lake restrooms to see what comes out when the lights go off. 1 mile hike. Bring a flashlight.
